WELDER SERVICE & CALIBRATION

Regular Maintenance and Calibration

Standard welding machines should undergo maintenance and calibration annually. For precision-grade equipment, this should be done biannually.

Increased Frequency

If there are signs of deteriorating performance or if repairs have been made to the power supply or metering system (such as the wire feed unit), more frequent maintenance is recommended. The operating environment also impacts the maintenance schedule; for example, machines used offshore or in shipyards typically require testing every six months.

Specific Requirements

Wire feed speed testing is mandatory for machines with meters. MIG/MAG, manual metal arc welding, and TIG systems must be calibrated. Qualified fabricators need to ensure that their welding equipment is calibrated at least once a year.

Importance of Regular Calibration

Consistent annual calibration is essential to prevent quality issues, safety risks, and unexpected breakdowns, which in turn extends the lifespan of your welding equipment.

Calibration Procedure

Our engineers will perform the calibration on-site (additional fees may apply) unless alternative arrangements are made or the machine is sent to our premises. The procedure adheres to the standard, utilizing a resistive load for stability and consistency, rather than a live arc.

Testing Parameters

The test spans an amperage range agreed upon by the welding equipment manufacturer and user or as specified in the welding method. Upon completion, the welding equipment and certificate will be marked with relevant information.

*Additional fees may be incurred based on travel distance and time. If the equipment does not pass, our engineer will provide recommendations for compliance.
